Melissa Dorn is an associate in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLP and is based in the Firm's Washington, D.C. office.  She focuses her practice on a combination of regulatory, legislative, compliance and transactional issues related to energy and commodities markets, with a particular focus on renewable energy sales, projects and trading, and the developing emissions markets.

Melissa represents energy companies, financial institutions, renewable energy project development companies and hedge funds on a variety of issues, including commodity and derivative transactions.  She has particular experience in the areas of renewable energy and emissions.  Her work in this area has included advising financial institutions on the regulatory landscape for renewable energy development, drafting and negotiating trading agreements concerning renewable energy certificates, emissions allowances, including RGGI carbon allowances, power and financial products, and representing clients before various state agencies on issues related to renewable energy, climate change legislation, wholesale power procurement and transmission.

While in law school, Melissa studied environmental law and climate change issues at Georgetown and served as an articles and notes editor for the Georgetown International Environmental Law Review.

Melissa is admitted to practice in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the District of Columbia.
