Daniel H. Melvin is a partner in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLP and is based in the Firm's Chicago office. Daniel focuses his practice on counseling clients on Federal health care program fraud and abuse, Stark law, and Medicare reimbursement issues.
He has substantial experience auditing hospitals and other health care organizations for Medicare and other regulatory compliance, and structuring ambulatory clinical joint ventures, including ambulatory surgery centers, cardiac and vascular labs, imaging centers, radiation therapy centers, sleep labs and in-office physician diagnostic facilities.
Co-chair of the firm’s Reimbursement / Fraud & Abuse Affinity Group and co-author of the book, A Guide to Complying with Stark Physician Self-Referral Rules, Daniel speaks and writes frequently on health care regulatory and payment issues, and clinical joint ventures. In 2009, he was named to Nightingale's Healthcare News' list of Outstanding Healthcare Fraud & Compliance Lawyers. Daniel's latest practice focus is on legal strategies for hospital-physician alignment on efficiency and quality.
