Dr. Boris Uphoff is a partner in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery Rechtsanwälte Steuerberater LLP based in its
Munich office.
He is a member of the Intellectual Property, Media & Technology Department, where his practice focuses on trade marks, unfair competition, copyright, design rights and patents.
His work in these areas, mostly contentious, has included representing plaintiffs and defendants in infringement suits before all major commercial courts in
Germany. His litigation work encompasses cross border disputes with parallel actions pending in
Germany, in the
US and in the
UK.
In addition, he practices insurance law with a focus on product liability disputes and cash-in-transit losses. Boris served his traineeship at the Regional Court of Wiesbaden, Germany, and at a major London IP law firm.
Prior to joining the Firm he practiced at two leading international law firms. He is admitted to practice before all District Courts and Courts of Appeal in
Germany.
He is also admitted as a Solicitor in
England and
Wales.
Boris is a member of the German Association for Intellectual Property Law, the German Institution of Arbitration (DIS) and the British-German Law Association. Boris is recommended in JUVE Handbuch Wirtschaftskanzleien 2008/2009 (directory of German commercial law firms) in the field of Trademarks and Competition Law as well as in the field of Patent Litigation.
