Thomas Sauermilch is a partner in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLP based in the Firm’s New York office.
He has particular experience in cross-border M&A and joint venture transactions and regularly advises clients in corporate governance and compliance matters, including internal investigations in multiple countries.
Thomas has been lead counsel in numerous acquisitions, divestitures and joint ventures in a wide range of sectors, including aerospace and avionics, automotive industries, chemicals, energy, engineering, manufacturing, media, natural resources, packaging, pharmaceuticals, semiconductor equipment, software, technology and trading. His transactional experience extends to more than 30 countries. For several years he has chaired the global M&A practice of the Firm.
He has been consistently recommended as a leading M&A lawyer by Chambers USA (since 2006), Legal 500 (large deals: since 2008) and by Law and Politics (Super Lawyer for M&A and international business transactions, New York and Corporate Counsel Editions).
Thomas is a member of the American Bar Association, the American Council on Germany and the International Bar Association. He is the author of various articles and has lectured on various topics in international trade and investment.
