IP Growth Continues

IRVINE, CA  — The international law firm of McDermott Will & Emery is pleased to announce that Mark Itri will be joining the Firm’s intellectual property practice group as a partner in the Orange County office. Mr. Itri focuses his practice on patent and trademark prosecution and litigation, and has extensive experience in client counseling and opinion work.

Prior to practicing law at a leading IP boutique firm, Mr. Itri was a design engineer in the aerospace industry. He now utilizes his technical background by concentrating primarily on high technology relating to electronic and computer software arts, the internet, photocopiers, printers, facsimile devices, mechanical devices and instruments, pattern and speech recognition, and server and network systems. As an engineer, Mr. Itri was part of a research and development team focusing on microprocessor designs and flight control systems.

"Mark has a combination of practical, technical and legal experience that is ideal in the IP world and is an absolute match with our IP practice," commented Fay Morisseau, partner-in-charge of the Orange County office.

Mr. Itri earned his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Boston University, and his law degree from Suffolk Law School. He is a member of the American, California and Orange County Bar Associations; the American Intellectual Property Law Association; the Licensing Executive Society; and the Orange County Patent Lawyers Association. He is admitted to practice in California, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and various federal and district courts.

"McDermott’s recent growth on the West Coast, particularly in the area of IP was a significant aspect in my decision to join the firm," commented Mr. Itri. McDermott Will & Emery's West Coast practice, which recently debuted at number 37 in The California Lawyer’s Big 50 (California's largest law firms), attracted more than 35 laterals in 2001, and currently numbers 130 lawyers in its three California offices.
