McDermott Named to National Law Journal Appellate Hot List
WASHINGTON, D.C. (April 8, 2008) — McDermott Will & Emery is pleased to announce that The National Law Journal has selected the Firm for its 2008 Appellate Hot List. McDermott was one of 20 law firms recognized on the 2008 Appellate Hot List. This recent recognition comes on the heels of the Firm being named to American Lawyer's "Honor Roll" in its Litigation Department of the Year issue. In January 2008, American Lawyer honored McDermott for its record of outstanding results for clients in high-stakes disputes and for the notable depth and breadth of talent that the Firm demonstrated in 2006 and 2007.

The National Law Journal reported that McDermott has argued before the U.S. Supreme Court, each of the 13 federal appellate circuits and numerous state supreme courts. The Appellate Hot List highlighted McDermott's work on behalf of Jeffrey Beck in Beck v. PACE International Union, Wisconsin Right to Life in Federal Election Commission v. Wisconsin Right to Life Inc., and Seagate Technology In re Seagate Technology LLC.

The 2008 Appellate Hot List is The National Law Journal's survey of firms that scored at least one significant appellate win since January 2007, plus an impressive track record overall. A "significant win" meant prevailing before the U.S. Supreme Court, a U.S. circuit court of appeals or a state court of last resort when the financial stakes were high or an important legal principle was at stake.
McDermott Will & Emery's Appellate Practice Group is led by M. Miller Baker in the Washington, D.C. office and Professor Rory K. Little of the University of California, Hastings, who serves as Senior Counsel in the Silicon Valley office.
