McDermott Expands Corporate Practice
DÜSSELDORF (January 23, 2009) – As a highly-skilled lawyer in M&A, financing and real-estate transactions Dr. Jens Ortmanns will be a great asset to McDermott Will & Emery's Corporate Department in Düsseldorf where he joined as partner on January 1, 2009. Dr. Ortmanns joined McDermott from Hypo Real Estate Bank International, where he was responsible for the day-to-day operations of domestic and foreign financing in London and Munich and was also the Compliance Officer for Germany.
Dr. Ortmanns previously worked for Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer in the field of real-estate law where, among other things, he assisted with large portfolio transactions such as the acquisition of the Deutsche Bank real-estate portfolio by Blackstone, the sale of a real-estate portfolio of AMB Generali Immobilien comprising 76 properties to Whitehall, and the acquisition and the subsequent resale of the real-estate holdings of DSM Deutsche Städte Medien by Ströer. While he was at Freshfields, from 2001 to 2004, Dr. Ortmanns worked with Dr. Norbert Schulte and Dr. Stefan Fink, both now partners at McDermott. Since 2004 Dr. Schulte has been responsible for the development and expansion of the Corporate Real Estate Practice Group at McDermott in Germany.
Due to his experience in the field of financing, Dr. Ortmanns will be the ideal enhancement to McDermott's corporate team. In addition Dr. Ortmanns has specific experience in complex real-estate transactions as well as in commercial tenancy law.
