McDermott Represents The Carlyle Group in its Acquisition of a Minority Share in Global Media GmbH
LONDON (20 June 2006) - McDermott Will & Emery represented Carlyle Europe Technology Partners in its acquisition of a significant minority share in Global Media GmbH.
Carlyle Europe Technology Partners is the European technology fund of global private equity firm The Carlyle Group and Global Media GmbH is an international internet marketing agency, with a leadership position in the German market.
McDermott fielded a multi-disciplinary team, which was led in Germany by media and technology partner Ralf Weisser and corporate partner Christian von Sydow, and in the United Kingdom by corporate partner Michael McFall. The Firm’s German practice, acknowledged last year by Juve as "Law Firm of the Year for Media," added sector specific experience with their private equity and intellectual property advice.
Lawyers included a team from Munich, Düsseldorf and London who advised on the acquisition, antitrust, tax and employment aspects of the transaction. Partners included Munich competition partner Oliver Steffens and Munich tax partner Dirk Pohl.
