McDermott Named Among Top Firms Who Protect Innovation in America

CHICAGO (November 5, 2007) — McDermott Will & Emery is delighted to announce the Firm has been recognized in "Who Protects Innovation in America 2007" by IP Law & Business (November 2007).  McDermott ranks as one of the leading firms handling U.S. intellectual property work for the world’s most innovative companies.

McDermott represents leading corporations from "The World’s 50 Most Innovative Companies" including Amgen, News Corporation, Nike and Walt Disney for IP litigation and Verizon in patent prosecution.

"Who Protects Innovation in America 2007," recognizes which U.S. law firms are prosecuting patents and pursuing IP litigation in the United States for the world’s most innovative companies.  IP Law & Business used "The World’s 50 Most Innovative Companies," published by BusinessWeek to identify companies ranked by innovation rather than size.  In order to determine which law firms were obtaining the most work from the top innovators, IP Law & Business reviewed companies in order of ranking and obtained the names of representative counsel for patent prosecution and IP litigation work, gathered from Thomson West’s Litigation and IP Monitor from January 2007 through the end of September 2007.

McDermott’s Intellectual Property, Media & Technology Department includes more than 240 lawyers and patent agents working in all of our offices throughout the world.  The Firm is recognized for its trial and appellate experience, and is ranked as one of the strongest IP litigation firms for both plaintiffs and defendants.  McDermott’s practice in procurement and licensing in the patent, trademark and copyright areas is recognized for its depth and breadth.  Rounding out McDermott’s intellectual property, media and technology services, the team provides client counseling and advice regarding trade secret, unfair competition, advertising, entertainment and computer law.
