Attorney to be a Panelist at Congressional Policy Forum
WASHINGTON, DC — McDermott Will & Emery today announced that Arthur Rosen, a partner in the Firm's New York office, will be one of the panelists of the "Taxation/Impact on E-Commerce and the Internet," discussion at the "Technology Policy for the 107th Congress" forum. The Congressional Policy Forum presented by TechIssues.net and COMDEX, will be held on Monday, February 12th.
The forum is a national event designed to accelerate federal legislative structuring of technology policy. The goal of this meeting is to spark an exchange of views between senior congressional policymakers and leaders in the technology industry. By bringing these two elite groups together on Capitol Hill, Rep. Weller and Rep. Moran hope to continue the process of building common ground for technology policy and fostering positive working relationships between the industry and government.
Last June, Mr. Rosen testified before the House Judiciary Committee's Subcommittee on Commercial and Administrative Law as an expert witness during the Subcommittee's hearing on Internet taxes. He will be participating in the panel discussion, which seeks to question whether tax laws are up to the challenge of the ever-evolving information technology economy.
Mr. Rosen formerly served as deputy counsel of the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance, counsel to the Governor’s Temporary Sales Tax Commission and tax counsel to the New York State Senate Tax Committee. He joined McDermott Will & Emery in 1996, and now chairs the Firm's nationwide State and Local Tax Practice Group.
