M.D. Joins Orange County Office as Intellectual Property Partner
IRVINE, CA (September 5, 2006) — The Orange County office of McDermott Will & Emery is pleased to announce the addition of partner James William Hill, M.D., to its intellectual property practice. Dr. Hill, who joins the Firm's international Intellectual Property, Media & Technology Department, will focus his practice on medical devices, biotechnology, patent prosecution, intellectual property litigation and intellectual property due diligence.

"As a member of our California intellectual property practice, James brings to the table a considerable amount of practical and legal experience."
Prior to 1998 when Dr. Hill began practicing law, he did his residency training in internal medicine at Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena and the University of Southern California. He also completed his residency training in diagnostic radiology at the Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School in Boston. He was awarded a fellowship in interventional neuroradiology at the Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School. Dr. Hill has performed research in the following areas: hemoglobin biochemistry; ophthalmology (vitreoretinal surgery); digital radiography; intraoperative MRI for neurosurgical applications; image fusion techniques for CT, MRI, PET scanning, and arteriography; and radiosurgery for malignant brain tumors.

Dr. Hill earned his J.D. cum laude from Boston University Law School and his M.D., with honors, from Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California. He earned an undergraduate degree in biology from California State University at Los Angeles and has completed coursework in the master of science in electrical engineering program from the University of Southern California Viterbi School of Engineering.
Dr. Hill is a frequent lecturer on intellectual property and life sciences issues and is active in numerous local and national organizations, including the California Medical Association, California Bar Association, Orange County Bar Association, Orange County Patent Law Association, Life Science Industry Council, the American Medical Association, the American Intellectual Property Law Association and the American Bar Association.
