The Spanish Practice Group of McDermott Will & Emery brings legal experience and education from the United States and Spain to our clients. We advise clients from Spanish speaking countries in their U.S. activities and also provide advice to our U.S. clients with respect to their operations in Spain. Our group provides counsel with legal solutions that reflect different legal and business cultures, concentrating on cross-border transactions involving the United States and Spain. Members of the group have practiced or been involved in transactions involving Spain, and they are all fluent in Spanish. We work closely with long-standing correspondent law firms and can thereby ensure an integrated approach to cross-border transactions, disputes and other global issues facing our clients. The group, given its experience and language skills, also frequently assists clients on Latin American assignments.
Our Spanish Practice Group has represented clients in diverse industries, including automotive, biotechnology, commercial and investment banking, telecommunications, defense, security, media and technology, medical devices, engineering, professional services, internet/e-commerce, manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, publishing, retail, real estate and construction.
We have advised on a broad range of business issues, including cross-border mergers and acquisitions, strategic alliances and joint ventures, green-field investment and establishment of subsidiaries (and related personnel and visa matters), cross-border financings and securities matters, and general ongoing advice on commercial (licensing, distribution) as well as corporate governance and employment matters.
