Our IP, Media & Technology Department includes professionals with technical knowledge in virtually all fields of life sciences, with particular strength in biotechnology, genomics, bioinformatics, medicinal chemistry and chemical and mechanical engineering for medical devices. Many of our lawyers hold Ph.Ds and/or advanced technical degrees and have acquired industry experience in their fields.
Our Department includes lawyers and agents who have worked for the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office as former administrative patent judges, examiners and petitions specialists. We have a number of patent lawyers as well as lawyers who practice before the European Patent Office.
We also have extensive experience in litigating life sciences cases before the state and federal district, appellate and Supreme Court, the U.S. International Trade Commission, European national courts and arbitration forums. Examples of our life sciences IP litigation experience include representing major biomedical and medical device manufacturers in “bet the company” patent infringement cases; Integra LifeSciences v. Merck KGaA, Starlink, Chiron v Murex (Hepatitis C) and litigating the British Agrochemicals case on the parallel import regulation before the European Court of Justice in the United Kingdom.
