Members of McDermott’s Tax Department have significant experience in representing alcohol beverage companies.  For our clients engaged in international trade, our lawyers provide skilled assistance with transfer pricing planning, compliance and controversy resolution, as well as strategic advice on international trade and international tax.  We also advise clients in U.S. and European reorganizations and transactions, and working with the Corporate Department, execute the tax advice provided.

Representative Tax Experience in the Alcohol Area

  • Plan and execute the restructuring of the North American business of one of the world’s largest drinks companies, helping achieve tax benefits and flattening and simplifying the company’s organization.
  • Provide large distilled spirits importers with ongoing transfer pricing advice, including periodic reviews in light of acquisitions and changes in operations.
  • Represent a large international spirits supplier in several cross-border asset transfers designed to streamline and strengthen the company’s intellectual property ownership and assure a tax-efficient structure.
  • Plan and execute the establishment of an innovative international sales and marketing joint venture to promote the products of two large suppliers.
