International law firm McDermott Will & Emery announced today that Jenny L. Johnson Ware has joined the Firm’s Private Client practice as a partner based in Chicago. Jenny focuses her practice on complex tax disputes for private clients, their trusts and estates, and closely-held businesses.
“Our growing client base will benefit from Jenny’s knowledge and practical experience resolving sophisticated tax disputes, as well as her background as a trial lawyer,” said William J. Butler, global head of McDermott’s Private Client practice. “Jenny’s entrepreneurial approach will be an asset to our team.”
Jenny represents taxpayers at all stages of tax proceedings, including sensitive audits and examinations, IRS appeals, negotiated resolutions with the IRS and Department of Justice, trials in federal district court and the U.S. Tax Court, and appellate litigation. She draws on years of experience trying tax cases to help private clients, family offices, fiduciaries and other advisors proactively identify, quantify and mitigate tax risks.

Prior to joining McDermott, Jenny was at Johnson Moore, a boutique tax law firm which she co-founded. She is a Regent of the American College of Tax Counsel, whose membership is reserved for tax leaders who have made an exceptional contribution to their profession.
Jenny received her BA from Sewanee the University of the South and her JD from Harvard Law School.
