Overview
Stephanie Kang is a Discovery Consultant whose focus is in providing custom solutions and strategies for complex eDiscovery needs. Stephanie guides legal teams and clients on all phases of the Electronic Discovery Reference Model, highlighting important technical and logistical considerations to ensure that the legal obligations and business needs of the client are met in a cost-effective and defensible manner. She leverages best-in-class technologies and develops comprehensive discovery plans to improve efficiency, anticipate challenges, and advance the overall strategy of the case.
Stephanie is regularly entrusted to manage some of the Firm’s largest, most complicated and high-profile discovery matters. Often these cases involve large volumes of challenging data types, highly sensitive information and urgent deadlines. Stephanie applies her expertise and knowledge of industry standards to develop and implement innovative and defensible processes that allow case teams to quickly identify essential information and reduce the overall cost of eDiscovery. Notably, her methodology for managing mobile device discovery has helped shape the Firm’s approach to reviewing and producing this evolving type of data in a manner that complies with government requests and minimizes burden on all parties. She also has significant experience in the use of Technology Assisted Review (TAR), and has participated in the design, negotiation, and disclosure of TAR and analytics protocols with both civil plaintiffs and government agencies.
Prior to joining McDermott, Stephanie worked for a leading government contractor providing project management and litigation technology support to the U.S. Department of Justice. In 2013, she was a recipient of the Criminal Division’s Assistant Attorney General’s award for Exceptional Service relating to the work performed for the LIBOR investigation. Her background includes managing review teams, providing eDiscovery technology training to legal staff, designing and administering multi-million document databases, implementing data tracking tools, and manipulating data to process and produce files per government requested technical specifications. Stephanie is a Relativity Certified Administrator and a certified Project Management Professional (PMP).
