Shah Jahan Khandokar focuses his practice on project development and has extensive experience in energy and infrastructure (including digital infrastructure) projects across the full energy value chain.

He has broad experience in a range of energy subsectors including renewables, conventional power, hydrogen, oil and gas, LNG, and trading. Shah Jahan has a focus on international energy projects in emerging and developing economies (in particular, Africa, Asia, Middle East, and LatAm), with experience advising foreign investors/sponsors, lenders, and host governments.

Data Centres & Power & Energy Transition

  • Advised PLN and the Republic of Indonesia in relation to all of the Republic of Indonesia’s initiatives to meet its net zero emissions target under the Paris Agreement including the following mandates leading the way in the energy transition.  The matter included advising on:
    • (i) the development of a hydrogen hub between PLN and sembcorp;
    • (ii) the country’s participation in the “Just Energy Transition Partnership” with the UK, EU, Japan, and USA;
    • (iii) the “Energy Transition Mechanism” with the Asian Development Bank to accelerate the retirement of coal power plants; and
    • (iv) the country’s de-dieselization programme as part of the country’s efforts to meet the Paris Agreement commitments.
  • Advising on the development of a 300 MW solar PV + data center project in Uruguay.
  • Advising on the development of a 50 MW wind project in El Salvador.
