International law firm McDermott Will & Emery is proud to announce Elizabeth P Lewis and Michael Chu have been recognized by Crain’s Chicago Business’ annual Notable Leaders in Community Development feature.
As McDermott’s Pro Bono and Community Service Partner, Elizabeth works closely with the Firm’s Pro Bono and Community Service Committee and senior management to define the Firm’s programmatic mission, identify strategies for growth and launch pro bono and community service initiatives. In 2021, she was elected co-president of the Association of Pro Bono Counsel (APBCo) for the 2022 and 2023 terms. Elizabeth is also an active member and board of directors within several organizations including the Chicago Bar Foundation, Chicago Volunteer Legal Services and Public Interest Law Initiative (PILI).
Michael serves as the Local IP Litigation Practice Group Leader in McDermott’s Chicago office where he focuses his practice on all aspects of patent law, including complex litigation, opinions and prosecution. In addition to his practice, Michael serves as Global Chair of McDermott’s Racial and Ethnic Diversity Subcommittee and donates countless hours to organizations that address underserved communities of color, including The Alliance for Asian American Justice, Asian Americans Advancing Justice | Chicago, The National Asian Pacific American Bar Association and the Chicago Committee on Minorities in Large Law Firms.
The Crain’s Chicago Business’ Notable Leaders in Community Development feature recognizes individuals who have made a difference in improving underserved and underinvested communities in Chicago and the surrounding area, improved diversity and inclusion in their own organization and/or assumed a leadership position in the industry outside of the candidates’ own organization.
