Overview
On March 12, 2024, McDermott Partner Christopher Gladbach will moderate the panel, “Shifting Finance Strategies & Managing the Capital Stack, ” at the upcoming Infocast Solar + Wind Finance & Investment Summit.
Assembling components of the capital stack has always presented challenges for developers, and while there’s plenty of capital in the markets, the cost of capital is rising with inflation, interest rates, and IRS guidance uncertainty. This session will assess capital stack strategies and finance trends in the new normal, including the effects of market changes and IRS guidance.
Topics of discussion include:
- How are projects handling early-stage costs, long-term debt, tax-credit monetization, sponsor equity, mezzanine and senior debt, and filling gaps? Is financing availability keeping pace with demand?
- How are capital stacks likely to adapt to the IRS guidance both in early and mid-stage project development? What about expectations for new tax benefits or safe harbor requirements?
- Longer timelines and stretching the capital stack: Are earlier partnerships and equity funds worth the loss of control? How are developers dealing with needing to finance through delays?
- What are the latest trends in leveraged and short-term B loans or project bonds?
