Amy Bentsen (Boring) is a leading white-collar defense lawyer and civil litigator with extensive experience in the healthcare, life sciences and e-commerce industries.
Amy defends companies and executives facing challenging government investigations and high-profile cases. She is a tenacious advocate opposite the government and plaintiffs’ lawyers while offering practical, tailored solutions and strategies to her clients to resolve matters efficiently. In the healthcare and life sciences industries, Amy represents medical device and pharmaceutical manufacturers, distributors, laboratories, diagnostic companies, hospitals, ambulatory centers, and healthcare systems, among others.
As a Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional, Amy counsels clients proactively, helping them to enhance and leverage their compliance programs to support their businesses and maximize growth and revenue. She partners with her clients before an investigation or litigation to strengthen and operationalize their compliance programs, navigate complex legal frameworks and implement risk mitigation strategies.
In addition to her practice, Amy is dedicated to pro bono work. She previously led an initiative to provide pro bono resources to victims of human trafficking and has assisted nonprofit organizations with responding to law enforcement and litigation subpoenas.

- Convinced the US Department of Justice (DOJ) to close an investigation into a major hospital system for alleged violations of the Anti-Kickback Statute*
- Successfully persuaded a US Attorney’s Office and the DOJ Criminal Division to close an investigation into a medical device manufacturer relating to alleged violations of the Current Good Manufacturing Practice regulations*
- Defended a medical device manufacturer in a joint investigation by a US Attorney’s Office, the DOJ Civil Division and the DOJ Criminal Division relating to alleged violations of the Anti-Kickback Statute*
- Advised a major e-commerce marketplace on its settlement with the DOJ and the US Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) to resolve claims relating to the sale of devices and materials on a site that could be used to make illegal drugs*
- Represented a hospital system in a joint investigation by a US Attorney’s Office and the DEA relating to the handling of controlled substances*
- Conducted a comprehensive compliance review of a publicly traded, international healthcare technology company to assess the design, adequacy and effectiveness of its compliance program*
- Led an internal investigation and privileged physical security review for a publicly traded company in response to a workplace violence incident*
- Represented a national retail pharmacy chain in multiple False Claims Act and qui tam matters focusing on a variety of issues, including allegations of kickback payments, coordination of benefits issues, the submission of incorrect “usual and customary” prices to government payors and the dispensing of expired drugs*
- Served as counsel to a senior healthcare executive in connection with a grand jury investigation alleging violations of the Anti-Kickback Statute*
- Conducted multiple privileged compliance reviews to assess the effectiveness of company policies and procedures and internal controls at retail and hospital pharmacies*
- Represented a pharmaceutical and dietary supplement company in a criminal investigation by the US Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Georgia and the US Food and Drug Administration*
- Conducted an internal investigation on behalf of a city municipality regarding allegations of a hostile work environment, employment discrimination and sexual harassment*
