Understanding the Trump Administration’s Executive Orders on DEI and Immigration

Overview

On January 20 and 22, 2025, President Donald Trump issued executive orders rolling back diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) and accessibility initiatives and advancing his immigration agenda.

Join members of McDermott’s Employment and Government Contracts Groups for an explanation of these Trump administration executive orders (EOs). We will unpack the implications of these orders on the future of DEI initiatives and immigration law compliance to help your organization navigate these changes effectively.

Discussion topics will include:

  • The rescission of EO 11246 and its impact on government contractors, subcontractors, grantees, and other recipients of federal awards formerly subject to the EO
  • The future of DEI initiatives in the workplace
  • The balancing act between freedom of religion and LGBTQ+ rights
  • Anticipated changes in immigration law enforcement and employer best practices, including how to best prepare for US Immigration and Customs Enforcement/Department of Homeland Security workplace raids and audits

CLE credit is pending. McDermott is an accredited CLE provider in California, Illinois, and New York. We can issue reciprocal credit for lawyers licensed in Connecticut, Florida, and New Jersey.
