Some Republicans Are Reconsidering the Tax Bill’s Attack on Renewable Energy

Heather Cooper, Martha Groves Pugh, Philip Tingle, Madeline Chiampou Tully and Bradford LaBonte wrote an update, cited here, suggesting that the Base Erosion Anti-Abuse (BEAT) provision in the new tax bill will hurt renewable energy funding. “Multinational tax equity investors reducing their US tax liability from cross-border affiliate payments may find that investments in ITC and PTC eligible projects after enactment of the BEAT are much less attractive,” the authors stated.
