Jeffrey Stone discussed McDermott’s move as anchor tenant to downtown Chicago’s new River Point tower. In the new space, Mr. Stone said, McDermott wants to increase two things that tech companies have in abundance: serendipitous encounters and a sense of community. In a full-service firm like McDermott that has more than 15 separate practice groups, Mr. Stone said chance meetings can be very beneficial. “The real competitive advantage that we bring is when those groups work together. You bring tax transfer pricing together with corporate governance (and) really novel and creative things happen.” David DeYoe and Nancy Gerrie also played key roles in multi-year planning process for the move.
