Overview
Romilly Holland focuses her practice on international commercial and investment arbitration and has significant experience in arbitrations before the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA) and the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID), as well as before ad hoc tribunals. She has particular experience in the energy and telecommunications sectors and in disputes arising out of investments in emerging markets. In addition to acting as counsel, Romilly has regularly been appointed as secretary to the arbitral tribunal in international commercial arbitration proceedings.

- Advising an investor in ICSID arbitration proceedings against an Eastern European country in connection with its investment in the oil refining and petrochemicals sector
- Advising a Balkan State and two government-owned entities in relation to two related LCIA arbitrations regarding a contract dispute in connection with an investment in the tourism sector
- Advising a European energy company in respect of contractual disputes with State-owned authorities in three North African States
- Advised investors in ICSID proceedings against a Middle Eastern State in relation to the renewal of a telecommunications license*
- Advised a telecommunication investor in UNCITRAL proceedings against a Middle Eastern State in relation to a dispute arising in connection with the State’s discriminatory treatment and a breach of tax obligations*
- Advised Middle Eastern investors in connection with a telecommunications dispute against an Asian State*
- Advised a Middle Eastern bank in LCIA proceedings against an Eastern European bank in relation to a sale and purchase agreement dispute arising out of the global financial crisis*
- Advised Israeli investors in relation to a dispute under an investment treaty regarding the termination of a business concession agreement by an Eastern European State*
- Advised a Russian engineering company in ICC proceedings against a multinational energy company in relation to a dispute arising out of a gas turbine purchase agreement*
- Advised a major oil and gas company on its acquisition of oil blocks off-shore of a West African State*
