2021 Alcohol Quarterly Update Series | E-Commerce

Overview

In the first of our quarterly webinar series, we will discuss how the pandemic influenced the way we buy alcohol.

According to Forbes, the global e-commerce market for spirits and wine doubled in 2020. As the pandemic evolves consumer behavior—sparking a surge in online alcoholic beverage purchases—the e-commerce landscape has fundamentally transformed. Consumers want alcohol to mirror other consumer goods that arrive at their doorsteps. But, as direct-to-consumer and e-commerce proliferates, alcoholic beverage producers and distributors must be mindful of potential enforcement landmines, as well as contractual obligations, among other emerging issues.

Join McDermott Will & Emery’s alcohol regulatory team for the first program in our quarterly webinar series where we’ll discuss the major trends impacting the industry, and provide a summary of key watch-outs for the remainder of the year.

Our program will cover:

  • Various models and methods for e-commerce
  • Legal challenges raised against states enforcing laws opposing out-of-state shipments to residents
  • Trade practice regulatory considerations
