Neil T. Kawashima, Elise J. McGee and Joseph J. Viviano presented at the Nevada Bankers Association (NBA) 2024 Nevada Trust Conference on April 29–May 1 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Neil presented on the session “Improving Your Odds: Selecting the Best Charitable Vehicle for Your Client’s Goals”, which covered common and uncommon philanthropic options, including private foundations, supporting organizations, social welfare organizations, and DAFs, and outlined the pros and cons of each and when certain strategies may work best.
Elise and Joseph presented on the sessions “Are you Crossing the (Tax) Line?”, which explored the tax considerations trustees may face with respect to multijurisdictional relationships and offered strategies to minimize troubling nexuses, and “Are you Crossing the (Regulatory and Operational) Line?”, which considered the operational and regulatory risks trustees should consider when administering trusts with multi-jurisdictional touch points.
