Decoding Brazil’s New International Data Transfer Regulations

Overview

The Brazilian National Data Protection Authority (ANPD) recently announced drafts of new regulations related to international data transfers under its General Data Protection Law. These regulations establish the criteria for any organization to transfer personal data between Brazil and other countries or international organizations with an adequate level of data protection.

McDermott’s global privacy & cybersecurity team had the pleasure of hosting this webinar with Nuria López, a personal data protection lawyer from the Daniel firm in Brazil. Discussion topics included:

  • ANPD and its international context
  • Adequacy decisions
  • Standard contractual clauses and specific clauses
  • Binding corporate rules
  • Participation in the public consultation
