Overview
In August of this year, Brazil’s General Law for the Protection of Personal Data (LGPD) becomes enforceable by the Brazilian Data Protection Authority (DPA) and will have a significant impact on global companies doing business across Latin and South America.
Recently, we hosted a joint webinar to discuss the key provisions of the LGPD, the similarities and differences with General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and US privacy laws, and practical insights for managing global privacy compliance programs. We focused on the legal implications of the law for multinational companies with operations in Brazil and data flows to and from Brazil.
We were pleased to host this webinar jointly with personal data protection experts Thamilla Talarico, Nuria Lopez and Renato Malafaia from the Daniel firm in Brazil. During the 75-minute session, we covered:
- The current legal/regulatory landscape
- Key provisions in the LGPD in comparison with GDPR/US Law
- A closer look at certain key provisions of interest to US companies
- Implications for global companies and practical solutions
- Q&A
