International law firm McDermott Will & Emery announced the appointment of Bill Gaede as Global Chair of the Firm’s Intellectual Property practice. In this role, Bill will lead the Firm’s top tier, technically skilled IP practice as it continues to leverage high-stakes experience to advocate for clients across the IP spectrum.

Bill succeeds Nicole Jantzi, Washington-DC based partner, who oversaw a reinvention of the group. “Nicole was focused in her pursuit to make this group an effective partner to clients and a critical contributor to the Firm overall. We thank her for her energy and look forward to her continued contributions to our IP litigation team,” added Ira.
Bill is a life sciences industry veteran who holds 30 years of experience and has been with McDermott for more than 15 years. During that time, he has played an integral role in expanding the IP practice’s industry focus and Bay Area presence. He has deep experience in leading complex life science IP litigations that have significantly impacted life sciences IP law. Bill is a proven leader and also currently serves as Office Managing Partner of our Silicon Valley and San Francisco offices.
