Overview
McDermott Will & Emery is proud to announce that partner Lisa A. Linsky will be recognized by New York City Bar Association with the 2019 Diversity & Inclusion Champion Award for her pioneering work driving inclusion across the Firm and within her local community.
Lisa was McDermott’s first partner-in-charge of Firm-wide Diversity and partner-in-charge of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) Diversity and Inclusion. She created and chaired the Firm-wide LGBT Committee and currently serves on the Firm’s Pro Bono and Community Service Committee. She has been a longtime partner to Firm pro bono client The Mattachine Society of Washington, DC, most recently developing and promoting a groundbreaking white paper on the legal and political history of conversion therapy in the US.
Lisa, along with Juan Arteaga, partner at Crowell & Morning LLP, will be recognized at an awards ceremony on June 26, 2019.
“This year’s Champion Award recipients are true leaders in diversity and inclusion,” said Roger Juan Maldonado, President of the New York City Bar Association, in a recent press release. “Juan and Lisa’s contributions to the legal community have included work with civic organizations as well as extensive work within their own firms to increase opportunities for people of color and LGBTQ people.”
Lisa also serves on the Board of Directors for New York City’s Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, & Transgender Community Center, including as a member of its Executive Committee. This year, Lisa also received the “Above and Beyond” award from City & State New York and The LGBT Community Center of NYC’s Community Impact Award for Social Justice in 2017, among other honors. She is a frequent speaker and writer on topics related to diversity and inclusion and her extensive trial experience.
In addition to being a signatory to the New York City Bar Association’s Statement of Diversity Principles, McDermott achieved Mansfield Certification for its commitment to fostering diversity and bringing to bear more varied perspectives, experiences and knowledge to the practice of law and on behalf of its clients. The Firm has been recognized consistently for its progressive policies, this year earning its 13th consecutive perfect score on the Human Rights Campaign’s Corporate Equality Index.
