Overview
International law firm McDermott Will & Emery announced today that it has appointed Kevin Cummings as Head of its London Corporate Tax practice. McDermott continues to expand its leading global tax capabilities; this announcement follows recent high-profile tax hires of partners Jeff Maydew and Meaghan A. Wolfe in Chicago and Michael W. Hardgrove in Boston and Dominika Korytek in San Francisco. Kevin’s practice strengthens the Firm’s comprehensive offering, supporting clients across a broad spectrum of industries.
Kevin is making a return to Law, having joined McDermott most recently from Deloitte, the global professional services firm, where he was a Partner.
“Kevin’s joining comes on the heels of several other high-profile additions to McDermott Tax. Our clients are experiencing increasing needs for comprehensive tax planning, compliance advice and expertise to support their cross-border transactions,” said Jane May, global head of McDermott’s Tax practice. “We are delighted to have additional leaders like Kevin join our leading and dynamic McDermott tax bench.”
Kevin’s practice includes most forms of UK and international tax advice for large multinationals and privately owned groups, having traditionally advised US, Swiss and UK-headed organizations across a wide range of industries and subject matters.
‘Along with the rest of the world, Europe is experiencing unprecedented change across its tax landscape, requiring clients to put tax considerations at the forefront of their business planning,’ said Hamid Yunis, McDermott’s London Managing Partner. ‘As we continue to expand our client offering in the UK and globally, Kevin’s extensive tax experience will enable us to provide our clients with sophisticated tax input for their growth objectives. Additionally, the holistic and international nature of his practice will bring value-added tax solutions to our clients in the UK, US and within the wider McDermott network.’
Kevin commented: ‘I am very much looking forward to helping McDermott further expand its world-class tax practice, while offering clients the benefit of a broad international platform and a truly comprehensive deal and structuring capability.’
