McDermott Adds Veteran Commercial Litigator in Los Angeles

Overview

International law firm McDermott Will & Emery welcomes Brian Glennon as a partner in its Litigation Practice Group in Los Angeles. As an experienced trial lawyer, Brian brings a wealth of knowledge in complex commercial litigation, including securities fraud class actions, shareholder derivative lawsuits and US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) enforcement actions. He has also represented all of the major accounting firms in auditor liability matters, including administrative proceedings and at trial. He joins from Latham & Watkins LLP, where he served as Global Co-Chair of the Securities Litigation & Professional Liability Practice Group.

“Brian’s practice nicely complements our existing strengths in shareholder litigation, accountant liability matters and SEC enforcement actions, all areas of continued client demand,” said Steven Scholes, global head of McDermott’s Litigation Practice Group. “Additionally, his longstanding relationships with the major accounting and consulting firms will further strengthen our West Coast practice.”

Brian has achieved complete defense victories at trial on claims totaling nearly $3 billion and has obtained several dismissals of multibillion-dollar securities class actions in multiple jurisdictions. He has represented clients across many industries, including the financial institutions, energy, infrastructure and technology sectors.

His notable client representations on public company matters include Oracle, LogMeIn, Insight Enterprises, Avago and Hudson Pacific Properties, among others.

Brian is the Immediate Past Chair of the Los Angeles County Bar’s Litigation Section, and he currently serves as the Co-Chair of the Los Angeles County Bar Association’s Complex Courts Committee.  Following his graduation from Berkeley Law, Brian served as a law clerk to the Honorable Gary A. Feess of the US District Court for the Central District of California.

“I am thrilled to join McDermott at this point in my career,” Brian said. “There is a powerful synergy between my practice and the Firm’s strong global litigation platform. I have always had so much respect for the lawyers at McDermott, and I’m very excited to work with my new team.”

Brian’s arrival follows the addition of former EY and PWC general counsel Ron Hauben, who serves as co-head of McDermott’s accounting defense practice. The Firm’s Litigation Practice Group has experienced robust growth over the past year, most recently welcoming Amy Bentsen (Boring) as a partner in Atlanta last month as well as a seven-lawyer white-collar litigation team from Orrick earlier this year.
