McDermott Advises Great Point Partners on the Acquisition of Lyocontract

Düsseldorf/München, August 27, 2024 – McDermott Will & Emery has advised Great Point Partners (GPP) on the acquisition of German-based drug product contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) Lyocontract GmbH including the acquisition financing by private debt fund Rantum Capital. The senior secured term loan provided through Rantum Private Debt Fund III serves as part of the purchase price financing for this acquisition.

The transaction marks the first investment to be sourced and executed by GPP’s European team, which is based in the firm’s recently opened London office.

Great Point Partners, headquartered in Greenwich, CT, is a leading healthcare investment firm. Since its founding in 2003, GPP has provided growth capital and management buyout financing to more than 100 growing companies. GPP is currently making new minority and majority private equity investments from its GPP IV fund.

Lyocontract GmbH, founded in 2007, is an independent drug product contract development and manufacturing organization based in Ilsenberg, Germany. The company specializes in the production of liquid and lyophilized parenteral drugs for both clinical and commercial applications worldwide.

Rantum Capital is a mid-market financier for the German-speaking region (DACH) founded by finance professionals, successful entrepreneurs and former DAX top executives. Currently, Rantum Capital manages three private debt funds focusing on flexible, tailor-made debt financings, as well as a private equity fund focusing on majority equity investments in medium-sized companies.
