Overview
McDermott Will & Emery has advised the Paper Excellence Group on the restructuring of the Fibre Excellence Tarascon pulp mill.
The Paper Excellence Group is the sole shareholder of Fibre Excellence Tarascon. Operating in the US, the company is a leading producer of pulp and paper and is involved in the rescue of the Tarascon site with the support of the French Government and several public actors.
The Toulouse Commercial Court approved the restructuring operation, which will involve the transfer of both the Fibre Excellence Tarascon mill and all employees to the Fibre Excellence Group. The move continues a strategic plan of broad growth and development, which includes the construction of a biomass power plant to enhance the sustainability of the mill, and safeguard all employees.
The McDermott team that advised the Paper Excellence group comprised:
- Timothée Gagnepain, partner, Théophile Jomier and Rudi Pfortner, associates on the restructuring aspects;
- Pierre-Arnoux Mayoly, partner and Stanislas Chenu, associates, on the financing aspects;
- Laurent Ayache, partner, and Charlotte Michellet, counsel, on public and regulatory law aspects;
- Jilali Maazouz, partner, and Marie-Elisabeth George, associate, on employment law aspects.
DLA Piper also worked alongside Paper Excellence, and Fibre Excellence Tarascon was advised by both Norton Rose and CW Associés.
