McDermott Will & Emery announced Ranajoy Basu has joined its London office as a partner. Ranajoy has a background in structured finance, securitizations, derivatives, debt capital markets and debt restructurings.
“Ranajoy is an outstanding finance lawyer having worked with clients globally and, in particular, from the U.K. and India. He is also recognized as one of the leading practitioners in the important area of cross-border social impact finance, including social and development impact bonds. In addition, he has wide experience in renewable energy and green structured finance transactions. Ranajoy will play an important and leading role in the development our Structured Finance practice in London, and globally. In addition, Ranajoy will be responsible for driving the strategy of our India practice across the Firm,” said Hamid Yunis, Managing Partner of the Firm’s London office.
Ranajoy’s experience includes Covered Bond transactions, standalone RMBS deals, emerging market securitizations, infrastructure financings, segregated asset pool programs, Master Trust programmes, ABCP conduits, Medium Term Note programs, renewable energy, project bonds and synthetic securitizations. He has also advised on some of the most ground breaking innovative structured finance transactions in the impact finance sector.

He’s also very practical, and he’ll give us advice in context.” He was also highly regarded in IFLR1000 Global 2020 for UK Capital Markets: Debt and UK Capital Markets: Structured finance and securitization.
He is dual qualified in England and India and joins McDermott from Reed Smith where he co-chaired its India Group and launched that firm’s Social Impact Finance Group.
