Overview
McDermott Will & Emery is pleased to announce the arrival of prominent litigator Greg Ballard in the firm’s New York office. Greg bolsters McDermott’s accounting defense practice with extensive experience defending accounting firms and their professionals throughout all phases of complex litigation.
Greg brings a well-rounded skillset to tackle matters for leading accounting firms and has successfully defended numerous high profile accounting cases. He will join forces with New York partners Timothy Hoeffner and Seth Friedman to represent US and international accounting firms and individual accountants in connection with federal and state litigation, arbitration and regulatory investigations. He also joins a growing bench of litigators throughout the country representing accounting firms, including the recent additions of Bill Donovan and Mike Piazza in Los Angeles, Nicole Figueroa in Dallas, Gary Adamson and Jason Gerstein in New York, Lawrence “Larry” Wojcik and Allyson Riemma in Chicago and Raphael Larson and Katherine Ruffing in Washington, DC.
“Accounting firms and their professionals need experienced lawyers that they can rely on when facing litigation, and McDermott’s team provides that trusted counsel from investigations through trial and every step along the way,” said David Rosenbloom, global head of McDermott’s Litigation Practice Group. “Greg’s arrival not only reinforces our accounting firm practice but also continues to bolster our commercial litigation bench as we expand our capabilities to better serve clients in New York and around the world.”
Greg has extensive experience representing companies in the defense of class, derivative and other civil litigation under federal and state securities laws. He also regularly represents issuers, underwriters, auditors, officers and directors in class action securities litigation.
“McDermott lawyers have been on the front lines of many of the most significant cases involving accounting firms, and I am thrilled to be joining such a talented team of litigators,” Greg said. “The firm provides me with an unparalleled platform from which to serve clients and drive growth of new and existing relationships with top-tier accounting firms. I look forward to becoming an integrated part of all that McDermott has to offer.”
Greg has experience representing individuals and institutions in investigations before the US Department of Justice, US Attorney’s Offices, Securities and Exchange Commission and Internal Revenue Service. He also conducts internal investigations on behalf of clients facing potential criminal and regulatory action.
Greg earned his JD from Columbia University School of Law and his BA from Columbia College.
