May 14, 2024 – International law firm McDermott Will & Emery has been shortlisted for M&A Advisor of the Year as part of the Program Manager Awards 2024. This is the second consecutive year that the Firm has been named a finalist.
Led by Partners Michael Halsband and Mike Byrne, McDermott’s insurance transactions team has substantial experience advising strategics and private equity firms in the sale, purchase, merger and disposition of insurance companies, program managers, producers, managing general agents (MGAs) and wholesalers.

- Ryze Claim Solutions, a full-service residential and commercial claims management business, in its recapitalization by Bain Capital Insurance, the dedicated investing unit of Bain Capital.
- Oka, The Carbon Insurance Company™, in the launch of a Lloyd’s syndicate-in-a-box and US service company providing first-of-its-kind insurance protections against voluntary carbon credit risks.
- Strategic Risk Solutions, the world’s largest independent insurance company manager, in its recapitalization with Integrum Holdings LP, an investment firm focused on partnering with technology-enabled services companies in the financial and business services sectors.
- Arthur J. Gallagher & Co., in its purchase of Eastern Insurance Group, LLC, a subsidiary of Eastern Bank offering commercial property and casualty insurance and personal lines insurance, as well as employee benefits consulting, to clients throughout the northeastern US.
- Brit Insurance Holdings, a global specialty insurer and reinsurer, in the sales of Scion Underwriting Services, Brit USA, Ambridge Europe and their subsidiaries to Amynta Group.
