McDermott is strengthening its teams and appointing six associates as Counsel in the M&A – Private Equity, Finance, Tax and Restructuring & Insolvency practices.
Marie-Muriel Barthelet, Maxime Fradet and Herschel Guez in the M&A – Private Equity team;
Shirin Deyhim in the Finance team;
Côme de Saint-Vincent in the Tax team; and
Théophile Jomier in the Restructuring & Insolvency team.
These appointments are part of the firm’s internal development strategy which aims to pursue its growth. McDermott now counts over 100 lawyers, including 24 partners and 13 counsels, in its Paris office.
Marie-Muriel Barthelet advises on M&A and private equity. She advises private equity funds, French and international corporates, as well as their executives and management teams, and founders on all types of acquisition, disposal, venture capital and private equity transactions.
Marie-Muriel holds a Master 2 in Business Law from the University of Paris II Panthéon-Assas, (2012), a Master 2 in English and American Business Law from the University of Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne, (2011) as well as a Diplôme d’Études Juridiques and a Master 1 in Comparative Law (English law) from the Universities of Oxford and Paris II Panthéon-Assas (2010). She joined McDermott in 2015.
Shirin Deyhim’s practice focuses on structured finance transactions, in particular leveraged buyout financings, fund financings and debt restructurings. She advises both financial institutions (banks and debt funds) and borrowers. Shirin is valued by McDermott’s clients for her technical ability, tenacity and balanced perspective. Shirin holds an LLM in International Banking and Financial Law from King’s College of London (2010), and a Master 2 in Financial Law (Banking and Financial Law and Insurance Law) from the University of Toulouse-I Capitole (2009). She joined McDermott in 2016.
Maxime Fradet acts for M&A and private equity clients. He assists founders, investment funds and companies in their sale, acquisition and fundraising operations.
He graduated from ESSEC Business School (2015), holds a Master 2 in Business Law and Taxation from the University of Paris II Panthéon-Assas (2011) and a Master 1 in Business Law from the University of Strasbourg (2010). Maxime joined the firm in 2018, after having worked for several years in an international law firm.
Herschel Guez advises on M&A – Private Equity. He advises private equity funds, founders and managers on LBOs, refinancing and external growth transactions. He also advises venture capital funds and entrepreneurs on fundraising and sales.
He graduated from the École Supérieure de Commerce de Paris (ESCP – 2012), holds a Master 2 in Business Law and Financial Engineering from the University of Lyon III (2011), a Master 1 in Economics from the University of Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne (2010) and a Master 1 in Business Law from the University of Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne (2010). Prior to joining McDermott in 2015, Herschel practiced with an international law firm in Paris.
Théophile Jomier advises on complex financial and operational restructurings and distressed M&A transactions. He has extensive experience in acquisition debt restructurings and cross-border transactions. He is also active on complex litigation related to restructuring transactions. He advises both listed and unlisted companies, their shareholders, mainly private equity funds, and financial creditors (credit institutions, debt funds, etc.).
Théophile holds an LLM from King’s College of London (2012) as well as a Master 2 in Business Law and a Magistère de Droit des Activités Economiques from the University of Paris I Panthéon Sorbonne (2011). He joined McDermott in 2018.
Côme de Saint-Vincent acts for investment funds, founders and management teams on the tax aspects and structuring of private equity transactions. He also advises French and international groups on their tax issues and has developed a solid experience in the life sciences sector. Côme regularly advises on complex wealth structuring issues and frequently assists companies and private clients in the management of their tax disputes.
He holds a Master II in Business Law and Taxation from the University of Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne (2012) and a Master I in Business Law from the University of Paris Nanterre (2011). Côme joined the firm in 2016 following a spell in Transactional Tax at another international law firm.
