December 22, 2023 – International law firm McDermott Will & Emery’s global investigations & compliance practice has been recognized for the first time in Global Investigations Review’s GIR 100 2023, an annual guide to the world’s leading law firms for corporate investigations. This recognition is a testament to the McDermott team’s track record advising on some of the most significant and complex corporate and compliance investigations in the market.
Acknowledging the strategic growth and expansion of the practice, the report notes that the “firm’s internationality is well-reflected in its investigations and compliance team, which includes partners in the United States, United Kingdom, France and Italy and individuals whose professional experience encompasses many major markets, including in the Middle East, Latin America, Africa and Asia.”
Lawyers highlighted in the editorial:
- Simon Airey, a London partner and global co-head of the practice. Simon is nominated as a Global Leader in Who’s Who Legal: Investigations, and he is noted for “experience and a wide-ranging practice that connects him to diverse industries and requires interaction with UK enforcement agencies on high-profile matters.”
- Julian André, a Los Angeles partner and former federal prosecutor with six years of experience as an assistant US attorney.
- Fabio Cozzi, a Milan partner and notable new arrival who joined the Firm in April 2023 and leads the Italian dispute resolution practice.
- Nicolette Kost De Sèvres, a Paris partner and global co-head of the practice. Nicolette is a former financial regulator and general counsel. She is noted for her wide-ranging practice in Europe, Asia Pacific, the United States and Canada, “giving her rich anti-corruption, investigations, and compliance experience to draw from. Multinational corporates and global financial institutions look to her with confidence.”
- Edward Diskant, a New York partner and former federal prosecutor with nearly a decade of experience at the US Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York, where he was chief of the public corruption unit. GIR notes that Ted “brings lots of trial experience to the table.”
- Joseph Evans, a New York partner who heads a dedicated crypto litigation and regulatory defense team.
- Gordon Greenberg, a Los Angeles partner and former chief of financial investigations in the US Attorney’s Office for the Central District of California, who anchors the practice on the US West Coast.
- Todd Harrison, a New York partner who previously served as a prosecutor in Brooklyn. Todd also “brings lots of trial experience to the table” and counts cryptocurrency as one of his areas of focus.
