Overview
Global law firm McDermott Will & Emery announced it has relocated their Boston office to 200 Clarendon Street in Copley Square, located in the Back Bay area of Boston proper.
The new location offers tremendous benefits for clients, lawyers and staff, spanning two floors and approximately 57,500 square feet with unobstructed views throughout.
The new central location provides close proximity to a number of clients, allowing for increased collaboration through face-to-face interactions in the City’s most sought after neighborhood. The new offices are in the former iconic John Hancock Tower and a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold Certified building.
“We are thrilled to relocate to the Back Bay, offering greater convenience for our clients. The design of the new office thoughtfully creates a bright, open and collaborative environment for our clients, lawyers and staff alike. We are proud of the increased open space which will encourage knowledge sharing. We are also excited to support today’s ‘work from anywhere technology’ approach,” said Tony Bongiorno, Managing Partner of the Boston office.
“This area is the heartbeat of the city, and we look forward to joining the neighborhood,” he added.
The Back Bay is one of the most lively and dynamic parts of the city. The bustling neighborhood is home to several vibrant corporate entities, and it offers over 150 restaurant choices, 35 fitness options, 24 art galleries and over 600 shops nearby. The area is also home to over 50% of Boston’s hotel rooms.
“With a less than seven minute walk to the Charles River and convenient access to public transit and the Mass Pike, we are proud to call Back Bay our new home,” said Tony.
The office, located on the 57 and 58 floors, boasts unparalleled 360-degree views of Boston, offers formal and informal open concept meeting spaces with natural light flowing throughout, including through glass walls and into the interior parts of the office. The design concept provides greater opportunity for enhanced collaboration with various soft seating areas that are fully equipped for a range of technology needs, including data sharing and video conferencing.
“We want our working office space to support our focus on clients and talent management while supporting our Firm’s cultural priorities around mindfulness and well-being,” concluded Tony.
In addition to the design and architectural updates, McDermott’s Boston office will be the first location with state-of-the-art Bluetooth security technology that features hands-free access throughout the two floors. The integrated security system incorporates physical access control, intrusion detection, video monitoring and the ability to unlock doors with a smartphone.
“This new technology provides leading-edge physical security while creating greater ease of mobility for our colleagues,” explained Chris Culver, Senior Office Administrator.
All project materials were selected to be sustainable and environmentally friendly. Additional amenities within the McDermott space include Peloton bicycles and treadmills, shower facilities and the “Hub” lounge and café.
