International law firm McDermott Will & Emery represented the Morgan family in connection with their equity investment in the syndicate led by Josh Harris in the acquisition of the Washington Commanders.
The Morgan family operates Morgan Properties, a national real estate investment and management company with over 95,000 units headquartered in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania. Morgan Properties was founded in 1985 by Mitchell Morgan. Jonathan and Jason Morgan represent the next-generation leaders growing the platform and overseeing the business operations today. The Company is among the three largest multifamily owners in the nation and the largest in Pennsylvania, Maryland and New York. In addition to Josh Harris and the Morgan family, the Commanders new ownership group includes: Mitch Rales, Magic Johnson, David Blitzer, Mark Ein, Lee Ainslie, Eric Holoman, Michael Li, Marc Lipschultz, Doug Ostrover, the Santo Domingo family, Michael Sapir, Eric Schmidt and Andy Snyder.
The Harris group’s ownership was approved by the NFL at a league meeting on July 20 and the deal closed on July 21.
The McDermott transaction team included Scott Bowman, Patrick McCurry, Tom Conaghan and Brooks Gruemmer, with substantial assistance from Nate Wolfe, Greg Berson, Alex Farr, Andrew Granek and Christine Kretkowski.
