Overview
Matthieu Adam counsels clients on a wide range of legal areas relevant to international projects, including corporate/mergers and acquisitions, grant/acquisition/assignment of exploration and operating permits, project financing, regulatory aspects including competition law, sustainable development, international contracts and distribution law.
Prior to joining McDermott in February 2013, Matthieu practiced with several international law firms since 2002. Matthieu has significant experience in corporate reorganizations (e.g., contributions of securities and assets, mergers, spin-offs). In addition, Matthieu advises French and international companies on projects and transactions in the African continent and other geographical areas, principally in the energy (e.g., oil and gas, electricity, renewable), mining, infrastructure, industry and agribusiness sectors.
Matthieu assists clients in dealing with the various legal systems relevant to their activities in Africa, both at the national and regional levels (e.g., Organization for the Harmonization of Business Law in Africa (OHADA), Economic Community of West African States (CEDEAO-ECOWAS), West African Economic and Monetary Union (UEMOA-WAEMU), Economic Community of Central African States (CEMAC-ECCAS), Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA)).
