Overview
Alison Mackenzie focuses her practice on a range of real estate transactions. She represents lenders, borrowers, investors, funds, purchasers, sellers and developers in the acquisition, disposition, financing, refinancing and development of real estate assets, including commercial, retail and multi-family properties.
She also represents institutional private equity investors on both debt and equity financing in their fund specific joint ventures to acquire and construct large-scale commercial and multi-family properties. Alison has also advised lending institutions and banks on structured finance transactions.
Results
- Represented the commercial real estate arm of an alternative asset management company in connection with a $104.85 million construction loan to build an industrial warehouse development in Ontario, California, featuring a Class A industrial building totaling more than 535,000 square feet of space and a solar component
- Represented an institutional commercial real estate investment platform in connection with a mortgage loan in the principal amount of $60.5 million provided by Goldman Sachs Bank USA and Starwood Mortgage Capital for a well-known franchise location of a seasonal resort property
- Represented the New York branch of a European public bank in connection with the refinancing of an existing loan and origination of a new loan in the aggregate amount of $140 million to an entity jointly owned by a middle eastern sovereign wealth fund
- Represented an institutional commercial real estate investment platform in connection with the origination of a $109 million construction loan to a developer. The proceeds of the construction loan will be used to fund the ground-up construction and development of a mixed-use building in New York consisting of at least 161,000 square feet of residential space (representing 237 apartment units), 25% of which will be designated as “affordable housing units,” 11,000 square feet of retail space and best-in-class amenities
- Represented the commercial real estate arm of an alternative asset management company in connection with an $84.2 million construction loan to build an industrial warehouse development in Elizabeth, New Jersey, featuring two Class A industrial buildings totaling 300,000 square feet of space, 52 loading docks and 168 trailer spaces
- Represented the real estate platform of a global asset manager in connection with a mortgage foreclosure of a trophy office-building located in Washington, DC
- Provided extensive real estate representation to a diversified pharmacy solutions organization serving health plans, employers and government programs in its $1.35 billion acquisition of a pharmacy division
- Represented a national bank in a $70 million mortgage and mezzanine loan relating to property in Frederick, Maryland, and a $75 million mortgage and mezzanine loan relating to property in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
- Represented a private equity firm in its sale of a majority share in an enterprise software and services solutions global leader to a leading growth-oriented investment firm
- Represented an institutional real estate investment firm in an $80 million mortgage loan to an affiliate of an apartment building in Columbus, Ohio
