Overview
Anne Murray is an experienced white-collar defense, corporate investigations and compliance lawyer who helps clients navigate the most sophisticated ethics, fraud and corruption issues. She defends companies and individuals in investigations by the US Department of Justice (DOJ), the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and other government agencies. Anne also conducts internal investigations on behalf of companies or their boards into allegations related to bribery, corruption, accounting fraud, earnings management, improper revenue recognition, embezzlement and other misconduct.
Chambers recognizes Anne for her experience in Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) matters, and she co-leads McDermott’s FCPA practice. In addition to her investigations and compliance experience, Anne has helped clients navigate FCPA monitorships to certification by the monitor that their programs are effective, and has been a member of DOJ and SEC-appointed monitorship teams. Anne’s approach to FCPA and anti-corruption matters is informed by nearly two decades of experience across industries including healthcare and life sciences, aerospace, technology, extractives, retail, hospitality, and food and beverage. She also leverages a unique understanding of geographical risk, having handled matters throughout the world and with on-the-ground experience in more than 17 countries.
Anne works with clients to proactively address evolving compliance risks. She builds, operationalizes, enhances and assesses compliance programs. Anne draws on her experience working with companies at all stages of their life cycles – from small private companies to large public multinationals – to tailor compliance programs to address risk in a practical way. She routinely conducts risk assessments and compliance reviews to inform companies’ efforts to continuously improve their programs and prioritize how they deploy compliance resources. Anne conducts pre-acquisition anti-corruption diligence and works with clients to integrate newly acquired entities into their compliance programs.
