Overview
Michael Austin focuses his practice on complex commercial litigation matters, arbitration and regulatory investigation matters, with a particular emphasis in the healthcare industry. Michael serves as co-head of the Firm’s Healthcare Litigation practice, and represents a wide range of healthcare clients, including health systems, hospitals, ambulatory surgical centers, diagnostic imaging companies, home health agencies, and medical and physician practice. Mike handles a variety of complex healthcare litigation matters, conducts regulatory investigations and enforcement actions by federal and state regulatory agencies, and responds and defends potential whistleblower (qui tam) actions.
Mike also frequently handles other high-stakes and litigation matters, such as class action, private equity transaction, minority shareholder, hospitality industry, design and construction, securities, corporate and real estate, cross-border, financial, and intellectual property (trademark, unfair competition, trade secret and copyright) litigation. Michael also has extensive experience representing private equity funds, venture capital funds and other investment groups in connection with complex post-closing disputes and indemnification disputes in the context of acquisitions and investments made in a variety of highly regulated industries.
