Overview
Christoph Coenen advises leading global financial institutions and investors on a broad variety of often highly complex cross-border and domestic leveraged, project, real estate and acquisition finance transactions. His experience includes senior and mezzanine acquisition and leveraged financings, bridge facilities, structured financings, real estate financing, project finance transaction, promissory notes (Schuldscheindarlehen) as well as other banking and restructuring matters.
His long-standing track record in the area of real estate finance includes landmark-transactions such as Silberturm, Highlight Towers and Elbtower as well as the financing of shopping centers, logistic assets, residential portfolios and large-scale property developments.
Furthermore, Christoph has a particular focus on the renewable energy sector, where he has advised financial institutions and investors for many years on a large number of domestic and international project financings relating to all different kinds of renewables facilities (including offshore and onshore wind, solar and biomass). Christoph has also gained experience in advising on PPP-type transactions.
Previously, Christoph worked for a leading global law firm for 11 years in Frankfurt and London with a focus on asset-based lending, project finance and real estate finance.
He is a regular lecturer at EBS University for Business and Law in Oestrich-Winkel.

Christoph advised:
- Union Investment Real Estate on the Sale of FÜNF HÖFE in Munich
- KKR and Mirastar, the European industrial and logistics platform of KKR Real Estate, on the acquisition of a logistics property in Hanover. The transaction is the first acquisition by KKR and Mirastar in this asset class in Germany and also the first German acquisition for KKR’s pan-European Core+ Real Estate strategy.
- Contentserv Group and its majority shareholder Investcorp on the acquisition of the French software company Shoppingfeed
- Numerous residential, retail, logistic, office, nursing home and other single and portfolio real estate transactions
- A client on a broad variety of corporate finance transactions, including Schuldscheindarlehen
- A client on the financing of agricultural projects in Africa
- A client on the structuring of energy efficiency project financings
- A client on the financing of climate protection projects
