Overview
Stephanie DeGennaro advises healthcare providers and private equity (PE) sponsors on transactional and healthcare regulatory compliance matters to help the achieve their business goals. She counsels her clients through mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and strategic contractual arrangements with an eye towards maximizing financial outcomes and reducing state and federal enforcement risk. She is particularly focused on transactions involving physician practice management companies (PPMs), ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs) and hospital joint ventures.
Stephanie’s specialty-specific experience extends across ophthalmology, optometry, gastroenterology, dermatology, dentistry, urology, radiology, OB/GYN and behavioral health, which allows her to advise clients on the unique regulatory and business considerations impact their industry sectors. She is experienced in advising PE clients on navigating the unique and complex regulatory requirements of the healthcare space that can impact business outcomes, including state and federal fraud and abuse laws (Stark Law and the Anti-Kickback Statute), corporate practice of medicine laws, state licensure laws and regulations, and rules related to Medicare, Medicaid and private reimbursement. She is also a trusted partner in managing regulatory issues post-closing to ensure ongoing regulatory compliance, including employment matters, equity incentives, commercial contracts and corporate governance issues.
While in law school, Stephanie served on the editorial board for the University of Miami Law Review.
