Overview
Jennifer Filippazzo focuses her practice on complex litigation matters defending Fortune 500 clients against a wide scope of liabilities, including complex product litigation, contract disputes, fraud, misrepresentation, environmental claims and general commercial litigation. Jennifer has extensive experience defending corporate representatives and company witness depositions and exhibits an innate ability to develop affirmative testimony. Jennifer has extensive litigation and trial skills, counseling clients in litigation avoidance, risk management and resolution strategies.
Jennifer’s experience includes nearly two decades of serving as national coordinating counsel representing a major firm client in their mass tort litigation. In that capacity, she was responsible for the development and implementation of case strategy and oversaw all aspects of the litigation, including fact investigation, motion practice, expert witness development, defense of corporate representative witnesses, mediations, trials, settlement negotiations and appeals. She also served as the supervising trial counsel responsible for developing, directing and approving litigation strategy and the presentation of evidence in over 40 trials.
Jennifer also successfully defends employers and corporations in administrative agency actions in Connecticut before the Connecticut Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities involving discrimination, wrongful discharge and fair employment practices.
With a Bachelor’s degree in biology and Masters in Public Health, Jennifer brings a unique proficiency of medical and scientific knowledge, experience and perspective to McDermott and the practice of product and commercial litigation. This core education, along with previous in-house experience at a publicly traded company, provides a solid foundation for Jennifer to serve as a resource to clients and local counsel in discussing pre-trial strategy and trial themes.

- Represented a defendant company in New York Supreme Court, for breach of contract; the case resolved favorably for the defendant
- Represented a defendant company in Kings County Supreme Court, for breach of contract; the case resolved favorably for the defendant

- Represented a defendant company in Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas Civil Division, in which the plaintiff asserted negligence and strict liability claims against a glass manufacturer alleging occupational exposure; based on evidence provided and persuasive arguments, plaintiff’s counsel agree to dismiss all claims
- Represented a defendant company in the Baltimore City Circuit Court, in which the plaintiff asserted a wrongful death claim against a brake manufacturer alleging occupational exposure; the case resolved favorably for the defendant
