Overview
Jack G. Haake focuses his practice on restructuring and insolvency, emphasizing bankruptcy, corporate restructuring, workouts, creditors’ rights and commercial litigation. He advises clients in Chapter 11 proceedings, related adversary proceedings, distressed asset sales and state court matters.
Jack represents corporate, partnership and LLC debtors, trustees, and creditor committees in workouts, change-of-control transactions and complex Chapter 11 reorganizations.
Prior to joining McDermott, Jack clerked for the Hon. Thomas J. Catliota in the bankruptcy court for the District of Maryland. Jack also clerked for the Hon. Paul M. Bowman in the Circuit Court for Kent County, Maryland.
Jack’s pro bono practice includes helping people successfully prosecute asylum claims. During law school, Jack served as an articles editor for the Journal of Health Care Law and Policy.

- Represented buyer acquiring substantially all of the assets of leading asset recovery and management company out of its Chapter 11 bankruptcy*

- Member of team that represented liquidating trustee in adversary proceedings and collection matters*
- Represented manufacturer in state court litigation arising from breach of warranties claim*
- Represented judgment creditor and successfully collected over $2 million*
- Represented mortgage company in various bankruptcy cases*
- Responsible for winding down Brazilian subsidiary of large agricultural supply cooperative*
