Overview
Marisa (Reese) E. Poncia focuses her practice on antitrust matters and competition law, including antitrust litigation and compliance matters, consumer protection, internal and government investigations, and mergers and acquisitions (M&A) transactions.
Reese provides counseling for the full range of consumer protection issues. In the field of advertising, she has experience with the Federal Trade Commission Act (FTCA), Lanham Act, state Unfair and Deceptive Acts and Practices (UDAP) laws, claim substantiation, disclosures, reviews, endorsements, sweepstakes and promotions. Specific to social media, Reese works with brands, agencies and influencers to establish social media advertising compliance programs, conduct training and establish appropriate monitoring mechanisms. She also has experience counseling clients in telemarketing, text messaging, email marketing and other direct marketing matters, warranty and consumer disclosure matters, subscriptions and automatic renewals and unfair or deceptive trade practices matters under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) and other federal and state laws. Reese’s practice also includes counseling consumer goods clients in matters related to product labeling and packaging, including advising clients on implied and express claims.
Reese focuses her work across a variety of industries, including the pharmaceutical, healthcare, aerospace and defense, consumer goods and energy sectors. Additionally, Reese maintains an active pro bono practice centered on immigration/asylum matters.
While in law school, Reese served as staff editor for the Georgetown Journal of Gender and the Law, which focused on the impact and intertwinement of gender on both the theory and practice of law.
